Multi channel strategies for building orders

06/04/2010
Recently came across a newspaper advertisement for the EBay /Outlet site – a one page ad running across 2 pages directing the readers to the site. On the site is a plethora of ‘outlet stores’ – Tesco, USC Clothing, BT, Schuh, Goldsmiths etc. These companies recognise the power of the EBay audience and can use this as a channel that does not affect the price points of their main stream brand. Just like any marketing strategy, each channel has to be well thought through, with product, pricing and promotion etc. geared to that channel.

What about other channels?  – QVC and other shopping channels for example. Find the right channel with the right audience profile, the potential throughout for products and services is enormous.

The lesson for companies to think about is not just ‘access to one market’ but access to different markets and their market structure. This can apply in both business to consumer and also business to business outlets.
