Marmite at the Checkout

25/06/2010

I was standing in a till point queue in WHSmiths which chicanes you past a large variety of impulse purchase goods when I came across a stack of Marmite jars. My initial thought was this is weird as it is not normally the sort of place for that product, however I was assured by the lady who served me that it sells very well at £1.99 for a 125g jar.

I then tried to think about the reasoning behind this as Marmite is thought of as a UK company not known for its overseas markets. However a Scottish Enterprise Account Manager told me that if you eat Marmite it repels Mosquitoes! A Real Insight!
