Chase Vodka – Planning for £100 million in the US market

30/07/2010

Great article in the business section of Metro newspaper on Tuesday 27th July 2010.  A relatively new UK vodka distiller – Chase Vodka of Hereford has just won a US competition called ‘Worlds best Vodka’ at the San Francisco Distillers competition.  As a result, they are now getting orders for their product from all over the world.

The simple key marketing points are very similar to those RFM would recommend to clients.

  • Develop products that are so differentiated that they become less price sensitive
  • Use awards/competition to put your business in the ‘spotlight’
  • Use PR (this release costs time and not money) to best effect to tell the world

Interestingly, William Chase, the inventor of this potato Vodka was the original inventor of Tyrrells crisps which has now been sold on.  What else do you do with your potatoes?

They also happen to have one of the best Marketing Managers in the land – Kath Henley produces well structured plans and gets a great ‘bang for her buck’ in every area of the company’s branding.
