Cool city space that builds brand presence

Don’t know if anyone has seen the meeting area of the Citizen M Hotel. A contemporary twist on a meeting room concept, members have access to the large spacious office/meeting space which includes Wi-Fi, lounge areas, quiet meeting rooms and a post box facility. This provides a mix of a member’s club concept and city office space. For the myriad of small companies, it allows an access point in the city that is innovative, cool and edgy!

We often talk to our clients about having locations in other parts of the UK, even a post box. It shows commitment to an area and even in our new world of e business, it carries great weight. The concept is a way to achieve this in a small budget with a big style impact.

Other locations are in Holland and New York, so membership can give an international feel and flavour to the business. At a time when British goods and services represent good value for money on the international scene, it has to be considered.

SSE Exhibition – What a show!

Fantastic exhibition at the corporate premises of SSE Waterloo Street.  Educational about energy, very interactive with an electric car docking station, electric hire cars and an electric car test drive.

This exhibition fits all the elements of far sighted marketing.  The market is at an early stage in the product life cycle which means that communication and education are key in the mix.

The product is innovative and new. Also brilliant for the internal market and the price is low at present with many incentives to embrace the energy saving culture. The place is at Waterloo Street Glasgow which has massive footfall passing the door and also a future plan to outreach through social media.

Promotions are on the traveller path at stations and a campaign in Scottish media.  It is too new for social media to have massive impact at this point but this will change, people are well versed and knowledgeable. The SSE brand is right up there.

The process is to walk in, or appointments if you are a group. The exhibition is a real purple cow moment, a head turner that will last for ages.

Being clever with words is a clever idea

With many of the social media formats that we are so keen to embrace, we sometimes forget the art of writing good copy.  Thought provoking headlines, great tag lines, well written and persuasive body copy with a call to action.

Straight from a magazine, take a look at this one:

The visual is a very rugged looking gent in a suit, with a tie.  Copy reads:

“I like my coats mink, truffles white and my secretaries Swedish. Do I look like I need free conference calling?”

Powwow now – for business people with more sense than money!

A clever strategy in a men’s magazine, focussing on value of product and service, taking away from this total focus on discount and price that dumbs down brands and leaves no excess for reinvestment.

Working the Internal Market

The concept of internal marketing and the internal customer is an area that many organisations are waking up to. The concept is that everyone is an ambassador, everyone has a role to play and everyone has a stake in ensuring that customers are treated well and  all opportunities are spotted. This culture change is easy to talk about and only a little bit more challenging to implement. Most businesses could increase their order book by understanding the internal customer and encouraging them to search for more opportunities.

Going Social – Building your Fan Following

Social media platforms are evolving so fast, we often hear of business owners labouring over the correct etiquette to engage fans. They have concerns over credibility, negative reviews and all of this before deciding on which and how many platforms to focus on.

The main considerations, are identifying where your target audience are chatting and then concentrating on building trust and content worthy of that audience. The only thing you stand to lose is the time investment.

All the well recognised viral campaigns have one thing in common. They have an original story told well to an army of growing fans. Whilst it’s not always as straight forward as that, it does indicate that a well thought through social marketing engagement strategy can break through the noise.

Focus on trust, and quality of content when you’re building out the editorial calendar.
